Smile

Here's a pic from Feb 18th... So far, it's one of my favorites. Such a sweet, smiling baby girl... I feel so blessed to be her mom.

Quick Update

I've been absent for a little bit while I had a cold and had a bunch of work to do for my class, but I thought now that I'm feeling better, I should check in. My quick update for the moment is the following:

Amelia's hair is getting lighter...

She can now grab her toes (and she can easily turn from her tummy to her back by rolling to her left side)...

She is eating one meal of oatmeal per day around dinnertime, and she loves it...

She's getting bigger every day, and more smiley, also. Still, she gets serious around the camera. Whether smiling or serious, we think she's pretty adorable...

Life Can Be Hectic

I went on a scrapbooking weekend recently, and so I spent a good amount of time preparing for that weekend, being away, and then recovering from the trip.  :-)  That being said, it's been a while since I've blogged.  For those of you out there who would like an update on what has transpired since Lia's 4 month birthday, here's the scoop:

1/21 - 13lbs, 3oz.  Lia was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis!  Got some asthma meds for her wheezing, but other than some yucky cold symptoms, she was fine.
1/25 - Lia is finally feeling better and can return to her normal daycare.
1/27 - Getting better at holding on to toys and such!
1/28 - 12lbs, 14oz. 4 month checkup/immunizations. The doctor has two bits of good news: Lia is ready to start solids (if we want), and she doesn't need to eat at night anymore.  Matt tried feeding Lia some formula laced with baby oatmeal, but she just spit it out.  We'll try again sometime soon...
1/29 - Lia possibly feeling sick from her shots?  Her first time using baby Tylenol, and it seemed to work like magic.
1/30 - Almost rolled over unaided!  (I admit it, I helped a bit...  She's gotta get a feel for it somehow, right?)

1/31 - Snowsuit!

2/1 - Fun times with Dad:

2/3 - I left for my scrapping weekend right after work, and Matt attempted to start training Lia to not need parental assistance during the night.  She ends up waking up once, but only needs some verbal comforting from Dad.  Here are some pics from the morning before I left for work:

2/4 - Another night with no middle-of-the-night feeding, but a little comforting from Dad.  (Mom still away at scrap weekend.)
2/5 - Lia made it all the way through the night on her own!
2/8 - Still sleeping through the night.  We're talking approximately 8pm until 7am.  Woohoo!  (We have it so easy...)  Here she is turned sideways in her crib after a night of taking care of herself:

And here's a pic from naptime.  So peaceful....

2/10 - Rosy "Minnesota Winter" cheeks:

2/11 - Lia turned over twice today!  Both times, she flipped from stomach to back while at Anne's house.  Matt and I have yet to see this in person...

So, altogether, things are moving along!  Now, off to do some homework while Lia naps...

Amelia at 4 Months

Jen's interpretation of Lia's chatter:

Mom, I like playing with the kitty. Her tongue feels a bit rough on my hands, but I don't mind it that much. Do you think she'd mind if I grab her fur and tug a bit? Hmm... let's try it... Hey, I think she likes that!

Again with the flash, Mom. I know I'm always moving so you have to use it, but it's so distracting! I can't remember to smile with that thing always flashing at me. And that red light before the flash that glows in my direction? Simply mesmerizing...

You know, this rattle is a bit heavy. Isn't it too early for me to be lifting weights? I think I'll just drop it right here. Ah, sweet relief!  So tired... when's naptime again? Oh, and seriously, my tongue is so cool. Check out how far I can stick it out! Hey, my lower lip tastes kind of yummy... That's interesting...

Haha! You almost caught me smiling, but I've managed to elude the flashing light yet again!

It's bedtime.  Oh how I hate being wrapped up, but I know it helps me sleep better since I don't flail as much when swaddled.  Anyway, I'm so tired, I'm just going to let myself be wrapped like a burrito once more...  Goodnight!

Ugh! It's time for a change...

It's a dead rat!  It's a hairball!  No - wait - it's the results of my fourth "locks of love" haircut!

Now that Lia is here and my hormones are returning to normal, I'm shedding like crazy.  And Lia's getting grabby now, so my hair is getting everywhere, including in her tight, little, grabby fists!  I'm so ready to let go of these long locks, so here comes a new, chin-length haircut...

First "Official" Day at Daycare!

Lia apparently had a great day at daycare today.  Her daycare provider was excited to learn how great of a napper Lia can be.  Cat naps all morning, and then a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.  And still, here she is napping through our dinner:

So, I suppose I should start preparing myself for a lively night...

Welcome to 2011!

Well, the holidays were a bit busy for us.  We had two separate Christmases this year, so I have just now finally gotten pictures loaded onto my laptop.  Another reason that I'm a bit behind?  My hard drive crashed last week, but now I have a functioning computer yet again.  And for those of you who are scared for us, no, I didn't lose any pictures.  (I've been paranoid about backing up for a while now, and since I've had to reformat twice since Lia was born, this has been a good thing.)

Anyway, thought I would post a few of my favorite pics from the last couple of weeks...

Hanging out in the office...  Probably trying to decide if she wants to just look around or chew on something.  (Chewing and drooling have picked up since she hit the three month mark, so let's just say we're going through a lot of burp clothes.)

Opening presents while sitting on Daddy's lap during Christmas #2:

Naptime in a new, warm, and fuzzy sleep-n-play:

In addition to chewing on anything in site, Lia has started to even chew on her bottom lip a bit.  So far, no damage, but we're trying to encourage chewing on things other than body parts...like teething toys.  And we were playing "reach for the rattle".  Matt says he thinks that Lia is favoring her left hand...  We'll see!

Here we are hanging out at a game night at our friends' house.  Lia had been fussy all morning, but she cheered up when we went out.  I'm still hoping that she'll be an extrovert like me.
